Radio Satellite Sirius?

Radio Satellite Sirius is radio that has commercials off! and music and programming on!

As you know, regular radio has to play commercials where sponsors pay for air time. With Sirius Radio you pay a small monthly fee and get no commercials with a huge selection of different types of programming including sports, news, entertainment radio and music.
A quick rundown gives you...

Over 100 streams (stations) of radio satellite Sirius

61 streams of 100% commercial-free music

Over 40 streams of sports, news and entertainment

Radio is restricted by distance (around 40-100 miles) and what's called "line-of-site". Line-of-site has to do with how far one can see or a signal can travel in a straight line without the view or signal being obstructed by something like mountains, hills etc. Have you have experienced the static and signal loss while driving your car or moving around? Sirius Radio has no such difficulty since the satellites are in space. This means that there are no distance or obstruction difficulties. This technology makes it possible to get digital quality sound and great radio programming wherever you go.

With the way the Sirius Satellites are positioned you could drive coast-to-coast while listening to the same station (signal) and always have clear listening. Even off our coasts, 200+ miles off our coasts you get the same clear listening. This is great for the boat lover. I have to mention here that the same radio you have at home can be the same one you have in your boat. The Radio Satellite Sirius system is designed to be portable. Wherever you place a "docking station" you can use Radio Satellite Sirius.

Docking stations have been around now for a few years. In electronics "age" this is a good long time. A docking station is used to "dock" or cradle your lap top computer or in this case your Sirius Satellite Radio. In other words, you connect the Sirius Radio unit directly to it. Kind of like plugging in an extension cord to an outlet. The docking unit is a stationary case, but the Sirius Radio is portable giving you the flexibility to plug it in to any docking unit you have for it. This can be in the living room, the car, boat or the boom box.

Sirius is located in New York Cities Rockefeller Center. From the studios there they shoot the over 100 streams of satellite radio to 3 state-of-the-art satellites that orbit the earth twenty four hours a day seven days a week, so, you always get music, sports, news, etc., all the time, anytime.

Radio Satellite Sirius accessories and what you'll need.

Plug and Play units are portable tuners that come with optional home and car kits. Use them at home, in your office, in a truck, boat or your car. Plug and play means that you just plug it in and it does the rest. Plug and play is more and more becoming the standard. Very simple.

Home units connect directly to your home entertainment system. They contain features such as song/artist title memory, 4 preset banks with text input and digital audio output. You can complete your home entertainment system with SIRIUS.

Headunits (a small radio unit a little bigger than your hand) work with your current car radio and is the most popular unit. Once you have a "headunit", all you need to do is add a SIRIUS tuner and antenna and you're ready to activate your SIRIUS service. The set can be sold as a package and is very compact.

Tuners are an important satellite radio component. If you buy a headunit or FM Modulator system, you will need a tuner. The tuner brand must be the same brand as the headunit or FM Modulator system.

The FM Modulator changes your car radio into a satellite radio and allows you to listen to SIRIUS without getting a new radio.

How about the name? “Sirius” is the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major and the Northern Hemisphere. It was named after the ancient Egyptian god Osirus, who was represented pictographically as a dog, giving Sirius its more familiar name: the Dog Star hence the Sirius logo.

Without getting into the names of the satellites, their exact positions, etc., which isn't that important to us anyways you should now have some important info to help you with understanding Radio Satellite Sirius. If you feel you need or want more though, visit the
